Marseille can consolidate 2nd position in Ligue 1 with a home win against Brest at the Orange Vélodrome. André Villas-Boas’ methods are starting to take shape, and with Dimitri Payet back in top form Marseille should be too strong.

Marseille Form

Marseille have recorded three straight wins in Ligue 1 to sit second behind PSG. André Villas-Boas’ side recorded back to back 2-1 home wins against Lille and Lyon before a 2-0 win at Toulouse.

Darío Benedetto and Nemanja Radonjic scored in the second half after Marseille played against 10 men for the final 45 minutes. Dimitri Payet continued his fine form with an assist after scoring both goals against Lyon.

Marseille News

Central defender Álvaro González is suspended and winger Florian Thauvin remains injured. Marseille manager André Villas-Boas is unlikely to make many changes here but Maxime Lopez could be under threat from Nemanja Radonjic.

Brest Form

Brest went on a three match winning run in October but have picked up only one point in their last three Ligue 1 matches. A 1-0 defeat at Amiens and a 2-1 home defeat against PSG was followed by a 1-1 home draw against Nantes with Irvin Cardona scoring the equaliser.

Scoring goals away from home has been an issue for Olivier Dall'Oglio’s side. Brest have registered 0.73, 0.24 and 0.40 expected goals in their last three road games in Ligue 1.

Brest News

Brest boss Dall'Oglio could welcome back midfielders Haris Belkebla and Paul Lasne into the squad for the trip to Marseille. Left back Romain Perraud is injured which should see Ludovic Baal step in.

Attacking midfielder Yoann Court missed the match against Nantes and is still injured. Court is a valuable player to Brest with two goals and seven assists in Ligue 1 this season, he will be sorely missed.

Marseille vs Brest Head to Head

Marseille have an 8-5 advantage over Brest with five draws since 1984. Marseille won both matches the last time Brest were in Ligue 1, a 2-1 win in Brest followed by a 1-0 home win in the 2012-13 season.

Marseille vs Brest Match Up

Marseille are slowly finding their feet under André Villas-Boas. Central midfielders Valentin Rongier and Kevin Strootman provide the platform for Dimitri Payet and Darío Benedetto to flourish up front.

Brest rely heavily on Yoann Court for creativity and his absence will surely hurt the Brittany club.

Post bet analysis

Dimitri Payet had a great game as expected, Marseille with 34-4 shots but hit the woodwork 3 times in a 2-1 win. Tough one to take here but analysis was spot on and put it down to bad luck.
