Toulouse vs Marseille Preview, Predictions & Betting Tips

Goals are expected at both ends when Toulouse host Marseille in the French Ligue 1 on Saturday. Both teams have battled defensive problems throughout the season and also boast good quality in the attacking areas. BTTS is the tip at odds of 1.70 while a draw is also predicted at 3.30.

Toulouse FC Form & Team News

Toulouse are coming off a 0-0 draw at Amiens in their last Ligue 1 fixture. They will be happy with the point after making a number of defensive errors which went unpunished.

Les Violets are not exactly safe from danger, although they have a five-point gap over the bottom three with two matches to go. They are priced at 3.20 to win on Saturda, but having failed to secure a victory in their last four matches and given their poor defensive record, BTTS looks a more likely outcome at 1.70.

Toulouse's poor defensive record has seen them fail to keep a clean sheet in two of their last three matches. Despite the poor showing at the back, Christopher Julien should still retain his place at centre back while top scorer Max Gradel is set to continue in attack.

Olympique de Marseille Form & Team News

Marseille suffered a disappointing 3-0 defeat at home against Lyon last time out. Like Saturday's hosts, they were also guilty of poor defending.

The defeat means Les Olympiens can no longer qualify for Europe next season as they sit seven points off the UEFA Europa League spot with two games remaining. Rudi Garcia's men are unbeaten in four of their last six away matches, claiming two draws in that run. They are valued at 2.20 to triumph at Toulouse but their recent struggles mean that outcome is unlikely on Saturday.

Marseille seem unable to tighten up at the back having failed to keep a clean sheet in their last eight matches. They will be without centre back Duje Caleta-Car who was shown a red card against Lyon while Mario Balotelli will once again be tasked with carrying the team's attacking threat.

Toulouse vs Marseille Head to Head

Marseille have claimed 18 wins and 16 draws while Toulouse have eight victories from 42 previous matches. Two of the last three meetings at the Stadium de Toulouse have seen BTTS.

Toulouse vs Marseille Match Up

Toulouse have been poor at the back and are likely to struggle against the quality in the Marseille attack. They are also good going forward and with Gradel, they should have enough to trouble the visitors defence.

Marseille's defensive problems will be made worse by the absence of Caleta-Car. They will look to Balotelli to provide the spark at the other end of the pitch with the striker scoring eight goals for the visitors since his January move.
