Graham Potter is the bookmakers’ favourite to be the next England manager, amid reports Gareth Southgate’s reign could end next year.

Southgate will reportedly quit as England boss following Euro 2024, and if he does there will be no shortage of candidates for the role.

Leading bookmaker Coral makes former Chelsea and Brighton manager Graham Potter the 6/1 favourite to replace Southgate if he does walk away.

“Although it didn’t work out for Graham Potter at Chelsea, he is still regarded as one of the brightest English head coaches in the game,” Coral’s John Hill told FreeTips.com.

“And should Gareth Southgate step down as England manager next summer, we make him the favourite to take over.”

Potter is likely to face some stiff competition for the role.

Hot on his heels at 7/1 is Pep Guardiola, with reports claiming the English FA could launch an audacious approach to land the Manchester City manager.

Current England under 21s head coach Lee Carsley is next up at 8/1, while Newcastle United’s Eddie Howe is also available at that price.

“Pep Guardiola is being reported as one of the names on the FA’s shortlist,” Hill added.

“He is second best in our betting, while under 21s head coach Lee Carsley is sure to come under consideration after what he has achieved in that role.”
