Jose Mourinho has emerged as the clear favourite to replace Sean Dyche as Everton's next manager.
The Merseyside club were recently bought by The Friedkin Group and the new owners are believed to be ready to sack Dyche and make a statement signing.
The Toffees sit one point above the Premier League relegation zone and Dyche has acknowledged that TFG would not be doing their jobs if they were not considering the possibility of replacing him.
If Dyche is sacked, the next manager will be a key replacement with the club set to move to Everton Stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock next season.
Mourinho took over Fenerbache last summer but has been clashing with the authorities in Turkey over a perceived bias towards Galatasaray.
The Special One is rated odds-on to move to Merseyside despite being sacked by TFG billionaire owner Dan Friedin sacking at Roma a year ago.
Everton would be the fourth Premier League club managed by the Portuguese who was previously in charge of Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham.
Former Toffees boss David Moyes is in the running with Lee Carsley, Thomas Frank, Edin Terzic, Steve Cooper and David Wagner further back.
