First Division Betting Tips
The Norwegian First Division is the second highest professional football league in Norway. It is also known as the OBOS-ligaen due to a sponsorship deal.
Founded in 1948, it runs from April to November each year. The division has been restructured many times, there are currently 16 clubs in the competition, all meeting each other twice home and away.
It operates on a system of promotion and relegation with Eliteserien and the Second Division.
The top two teams are promoted to Eliteserien with the teams placed from third to sixth place competing in a promotion-playoff to earn the right to play a two-legged tie against the 14th-placed team in Eliteserien to win promotion.
The bottom two teams are relegated to the Second Division, and the team placed 14th contest a two-legged playoff against the play-off winner among the two-second-placed teams in the Second Division.
Rosenborg are the most successful club in the competition having won 26 titles. They haven't won since 2018, during which time Bodo/Glimt have become the dominant team.
