Sporting CP Form

Sporting CP have won all 11 games in the Primeira Liga where they have a three point lead at the top of the table. They have won eight straight in all competitions after a 1-1 draw at PSV in the Portuguese Cup.

Ruben Amorim’s side started November with a 5-1 win against Estrela da Amadora, Viktor Gyökeres scoring four goals. They beat Manchester City 4-1 in the Portuguese Cup with Gyokeres hitting a hat-trick.

The Lions are coming off a 4-2 win in Braga before the international break. Down 2-0 in the second half, goals to Hidemasa Morita and Morten Hjulmand brought them level before Conrad Harder scored twice after the 89th minute.

Sporting CP Injuries & Team News

Left-back Nuno Santos is out for the season after suffering a knee ligament rupture.

Centre-back Goncalo Inácio and attacking midfielder Pedro Gonçalves are injured.

This will be João Pereira’s first match in charge after replacing Rúben Amorim.

Amarante Form

Amarante are doing well in Liga 3/Group A after earning promotion last season. They sit second on the table, one point behind Fafe.

Alvaro Madureira’s side have been scoring plenty of goals in the Portuguese Cup, starting with a 4-1 win in Fafe. They won 2-0 at Eléctrico before thrashing Juventude Lajense 6-1 at home.

Amarante returned to Liga 3 with two home wins, 1-0 against Vilaverdense and Sanjoanense. They lost 1-0 at Trofense before the international break, unable to score against 10 men in the final 29 minutes.

Amarante Injuries & Team News

Madureira has a full strength side available.

Ká Semedo has scored seven goals in 13 appearances this season, five of them coming in the Cup.

Verdict

Sporting CP have won all 11 Primeira Liga matches this season and have home advantage against Amarante. The Lions can win and keep a clean sheet to get João Pereira off to a winning start.
