Head to Head

Belenenses have a 6-1 advantage against Tondela with 5 draws in 12 matches.

The previous four encounters in Lisbon have all ended in a draw.

Belenenses Form

Belenenses find themselves in a relegation battle after winning two of their opening 14 Primeira Liga matches. The Lisbon club lost 2-1 at home to Sporting CP before a 0-0 draw at Gil Vicente.

Petit’s side then suffered a 2-0 home loss against Pacos de Ferreira. Belenenses were 2-0 down at Fafe in the Portuguese Cup, two late Miguel Cardoso penalties taking it to extra time where Francisco Teixeira scored the winner in the 120th minute.

Belenenses’ last match was a 1-0 defeat at Portimonense. Henrique was sent off in the 67th before Afonso Sousa hit the woodwork, but they couldn’t find an equaliser in the Algarve.

Belenenses Injuries & Team News

Belenenses defenders Nilton Varela, Eduardo Kau and Chima Akas have yet to feature this season.

Centre back Henrique is suspended after his red card in Portimao.

Attacking midfielder Richard Rodrigues and winger Silvestre Varela are available after testing positive for COVID-19. Neither player has contributed an assist or a goal this season.

Tondela Form

Tondela are five points above the relegation zone. As usual they struggle away from home but it must be noted they have travelled to Sporting CP, Porto and Benfica in three of their last four Primeira Liga road trips.

Pako Ayestarán’s side drew 0-0 at home against Moreirense with João Pedro sent off in the 57th minute. Tondela then lost 2-0 at Nacional with Bebeto and Mohamed Naoufel Khacef seeing red.

Tondela bounced back with a 1-0 home win against Famalicao with Mario González scoring the winner. A 2-0 defeat at Benfica followed where they were predictably outclassed.

Tondela’s last match was a 3-1 home win against Boavista. The visitors saw two men sent off in the opening 30 minutes, Mario González opening the scoring before two goals to Salvador Agra.

Tondela Injuries & Team News

Tondela central midfielders Jaume Grau and Arcanjo won't feature after testing positive for COVID-19.

Left back Filipe Ferreira and midfielder Rafael Barbosa are doubtful.

Midfielder Jaquité and right back Tiago Almeida need to test negative for COVID-19 before they can feature.

Spanish striker Mario González has scored 5 goals in his last 7 appearances and Salvador Agra should be full of confidence after scoring twice last time out.
