Head to Head

Porto have a 101-90 advantage against Benfica with 62 draws in 253 matches.

Benfica Form

Benfica started the season by beating Porto 2-0 in the Super Cup. Their Primeira Liga campaign began with a 3-2 defeat at Boavista where they conceded two late goals.

Roger Schmidt’s side bounced back with four straight wins, scoring 11 goals with three conceded.

The Eagles turned their attention to the Champions League group stage with a 2-0 defeat against
Salzburg. António Silva was sent off in the 13th minute which made their task a difficult one.

Benfica won 3-1 at Portimonense on Sunday. Alexander Bah and Petar Musa scored early, they conceded in the second half before David Neres restored their two goal advantage.

Benfica Injuries & Team News

Angel Di María didn’t feature against Portimonense and remains doubtful. Petar Musa was taken off at half-time in Portimao but should recover in time.

João Neves should return to starting side here.

Porto Form

Porto started the season in the Super Cup where they lost 2-0 against Benfica. They are undefeated in six Primeira Liga matches with late goals bailing them out time and time again.

Sérgio Conceição’s side beat Shakhtar Donetsk 3-1 in the Champions League. Galeno scored twice in Hamburg before assisting Mehdi Taremi.

The Dragons returned to Portugal where another late goal saw them claim a 2-1 victory over Gil Vicente. Iván Jaime scored his first goal for his new club in the 8th minute, Stephen Eustáquio restoring their lead in the 91st minute.

Porto Injuries & Team News

Centre-back Iván Marcano is gone for the season after suffering a cruciate ligament rupture. With Pepe doubtful, expect David Carmo to continue in central defence.

Left-back Zaidu Sanusi and forward Gabriel Veron are injured.

Benfica have a fantastic home record in the Primeira Liga and beat Porto 2-0 in the Super Cup this season. The Eagles can win again to take an early lead over one of their title rivals.
