The Lions got past Rio Ave 4-1 on aggregate in the Portuguese Cup semi-finals. Their return to the Primeira Liga was emphatic, a 5-0 win at Boavista where Gyökeres scored four goals.

Sporting beat Gil Vicente 2-1 on Sunday to reclaim their position at the top of the table. They were 1-0 down in the 81st minute, Maximiliano Araújo equalising and Eduardo Quaresma scoring a dramatic winner in added time.
