Aberdeen vs Celtic Predictions

Celtic's winning record in this fixture is hard to ignore, and I expect the Hoops to comfortably claim a place in the Scottish Cup Final.

I'm on the Hoops to win with at least two goals scored at Hampden.

  • Aberdeen lost 12 of their last 14 matches against Celtic
  • Celtic scored 2+ goals in 8 of their last 9 wins against Aberdeen
  • Celtic won 4 of their last 5 matches (Premiership)

Head to Head

Celtic have a commanding advantage against Aberdeen in their H2H record since the turn of the century. The Hoops won 69 and lost just nine of 86 matches since 2003.

The Dons have not beaten Celtic since 2018 while their last cup triumph against the Glaswegians came in 2014.

Aberdeen Form

Aberdeen make the trip to Glasgow unbeaten in four matches after a pair of back-to-back goalless draws against Dundee and Livingston. The Dons have picked up eight points from five Premiership matches since the departure of former boss Neil Warnock last month.

Now under the temporary charge of Peter Leven, the Dons announced this week the appointment of Elfsborg head coach Jimmy Thelin, who will take charge at the end of the campaign.

Cup finalists in 2017, the Dons have not won the Scottish Cup since 1990.

Aberdeen Team News

Interim boss Leven is unable to call on the services of club captain Graeme Shinnie who is suspended. Slobodan Rubezic is also expected to miss out with a knee injury.

Top scorer Bojan Miovskii is fit and will spearhead the Dons attack at Hampden.

Celtic Form

Celtic extended their unbeaten run to five games with a comfortable 3-0 win against St Mirren last weekend. Japanese pair Reo Hatate and Kyogo Furuhashi were among the goals as the Hoops extended their lead at the top of the Premiership to four points.

Brendan Rodgers's side have found their shooting boots in recent weeks, with three goals or more scored in seven of their last eight matches.

The Premiership champions are aiming to reach their sixth Scottish Cup Final since 2017.

Celtic Team News

Celtic have a strong squad available for the first of this weekend's Scottish Cup semi-finals. Liam Scales is set to miss out, while Daizen Maeda's hamstring injury means he is unlikely to feature again this season.

Adam Idah will hope for a recall after he netted as a second-half substitute in last Saturday's win against St Mirren.

Verdict

Aberdeen have a rotten record against Celtic, and that seems unlikely to change in Saturday's lunch-time kick-off at Hampden.

I fancy Celtic to win with at least two goals scored in Glasgow.
