Morton vs Hearts Predictions

Hearts will be confident of securing their place in the last four of the Scottish Cup on Monday.

I'm backing the Jambos to win, while I also expect them to score two goals or more.

  • Morton have lost their last 2 home matches
  • Hearts have won 9 of their last 11 away matches
  • Hearts have scored 2+ goals in 9 of their last 12 matches

Head to Head

Morton will host Hearts for only their fourth encounter in the 21st century. Two of three previous matches between 2020 and 2021 finished as draws. Hearts claimed the only victory with a 2-0 win in Greenock over three years ago.

Morton Form

Championship promotion hopefuls Morton have suffered a dip in form over the past month with only one win picked up in their last five matches.

The Greenock side slipped to back-to-back defeats against Inverness CT (0:2) and Dundee Utd (0:1) in their two most recent outings at Cappielow. Dougie Imrie's side had won six of seven previous matches before their recent slump.

The 'Ton secured their place in Monday's quarter-final contest with a shock 2-1 win against Premiership opponents Motherwell.

Morton Team News

Morton boss Imrie could make some changes to his selection after another disappointing performance in last weekend's defeat against Dundee Utd. Michael Garrity and Lewis McGrattan are in contention for a recall to the first XI.

Hearts Form

Hearts arrive in Inverclyde with plenty of confidence following a fantastic 2-0 victory against Celtic last Sunday. Scottish international Lawrence Shankland continued his impressive form, scoring his 27th goal of the season and his 16th in his last 15 appearances, to secure a memorable win for the Jambos.

Stevie Naismith's side are in great form, with 12 wins and just one loss in their last 15 matches across all competitions. Away from Edinburgh, Hearts have won seven of their last eight fixtures, with two goals or more scored in five of those victories.

The Jambos eased into the Scottish Cup quarter-finals with a comfortable 4-1 win against Airdrie in February.

Hearts Team News

Hearts are likely to keep faith with the same side that impressively saw off Celtic last weekend.

Head coach Naismith is still unable to call on several first-team players. Frankie Kent, Yutaro Oda, Craig Halkett, Peter Haring, Barrie McKay, and Liam Boyce remain absent for the on-form Jambos.

Verdict

I'm confidently backing Hearts to claim their place in the Scottish Cup semi-finals on Monday.

An away win is my top choice, while I also expect the Jambos to score at least two goals.
