Aberdeen vs Celtic Predictions

An entertaining contest is expected, with Aberdeen capable of getting a positive result at Pittodrie.

Over 2.5 goals is my best bet, while I also like the home side's chances of avoiding defeat.

Stats

  • Aberdeen are unbeaten in their last 7 home matches
  • Aberdeen have seen over 2.5 goals in 4 of their last 5 home matches
  • Aberdeen have seen over 2.5 goals in 8 of their last 10 matches against Celtic
  • Celtic failed to win 3 of their last 6 matches against Aberdeen
  • Celtic have seen over 2.5 goals in 7 of their last 9 away matches
  • Celtic failed to win 6 of their last 10 away matches (Premiership)

Head to Head

Aberdeen and Celtic have faced each other on 45 occasions since 2015. Celtic have the H2H advantage, claiming 36 wins. Aberdeen picked up just three victories.

Aberdeen Form

Aberdeen return to Pittodrie after a miserable 4-0 defeat against Rangers on Sunday. In a largely ineffective display, Jimmy Thelin's men slumped to a ninth away defeat of the season.

The Dons are usually much stronger in home fixtures. Aberdeen are unbeaten in their last seven home matches (W5, D2), while they have lost just four of 31 previous games in the Granite City.

With two games still to play, Thelin's side sit fourth in the Premiership, three points behind Hibernian in the fight for European qualification berths.

Aberdeen Team News

Head coach Thelin is unable to call on a handful of first-team players this week. Gavin Molloy, Ester Sokler, Sivert Heltne Nilsen and Vicente Besuijen are confirmed absentees for the home side.

Pape Habib Gueye and Kevin Nisbet are among those tipped to earn a recall to the first XI on Wednesday.

Celtic Form

Celtic extended their unbeaten run to five matches with a 3-1 come-from-behind win against Hibernian last weekend. Despite falling behind in the first half, goals from Nicholas Kuhn, Adam Idah and Reo Hatate secured another Parkhead victory for the Premiership champions.

While in possession of a supreme home record (Celtic lost just two home Premiership games since 2021), they have been less impressive in recent road trips. Brendan Rodgers's men failed to win six of their last ten away Premiership fixtures (W4, D3, L3).

A lack of clean sheets has led to several high-scoring outcomes for the Hoops, particularly in away matches. An average of four goals per game were scored in Celtic's nine previous away games, with just one clean sheet kept during that period.

Celtic Team News

Celtic boss Rodgers has three absentees for the trip to Pittodrie. Defensive duo Alistair Johnston and Cameron Carter-Vickers are ruled out, while Portuguese winger Jota is a long-term absentee with a serious knee issue.
