Aberdeen vs Rangers Predictions

While Aberdeen usually make life difficult for Rangers, I´m backing the Glasgow giants to claim the spoils on Sunday.

An away win with over 1.5 goals is my primary pick, although I do fancy the Dons to score, so BTTS should also prove profitable.

  • Aberdeen have lost 5 of their last 10 matches (Premiership)
  • Aberdeen have lost 4 of their last 6 matches against Rangers (Premiership)
  • Aberdeen have seen BTTS in 6 of their last 8 home matches against Rangers
  • Rangers have won 7 of their last 8 matches
  • Rangers have scored 2+ goals in 7 of their last 8 matches
  • Rangers have scored 2+ goals in their last 13 away victories (Premiership)

Head to Head

Rangers have a strong recent record against Aberdeen, with just two defeats in their last 17 matches. Both of those losses did occur in the past seven months.

The Dons scored a 2-0 win when Rangers last visited Pittodrie in April; however, the Glaswegians have claimed victories in three of their four previous trips North since 2020.

Aberdeen Form

Aberdeen come into Sunday´s early kick-off keen to bounce back from a humiliating 6-0 beatdown against Celtic a fortnight ago.

Barry Robson´s men now find themselves down to ninth in the Premiership, just two points above the dropzone. Aberdeen have lost five of their last ten league matches, while they have picked up only four points from four games at Pittodrie this season.

Aberdeen Team News

Robson has no fresh injury issues; however, Conor Barron and Jamie McGrath are likely to remain sidelined for the Dons.

North Macedonian international Bojan Miovksi is set to lead the Aberdeen attack with support from Cape Verde forward Duk.

Rangers Form

Rangers appear to be a team revitalised under recently appointed head coach Phillipe Clement. A 2-0 win at Livingston extended the Beglian´s unbeaten run in Glasgow to seven matches (W6, D1).

Over the past six weeks, the Glaswegians have scored at least two goals in seven victories from eight matches. Despite recent improvements, Rangers remain eight points behind champions Celtic, albeit with the benefit of a game in hand.

Away from Ibrox, the Bears have won seven of their last eight Premiership assignments, with at least three goals bagged in six of those victories.

Rangers Team News

Clement still has a number of injury absentees ahead of Sunday´s lunchtime kick-off at Pittodrie. Kemar Roofe, John Souttar, Ryan Jack and Nico Raskin remain sidelined for the on-form Glaswegians.

Northern Irish teenager Ross McCausland could keep his place in the Gers XI after an impressive display in the 2-0 win at Livingston prior to the international break.

Verdict

A competitive and entertaining contest should be on the cards at Pittodrie.

I´m taking an away win with at least two goals as my main selection while I also expect BTTS in this Premiership contest.
