Aberdeen vs St Mirren Preview, Predictions & Betting Tips

Aberdeen are tipped to be too strong for St Mirren with another convincing home win predicted for the Dons at Pittodrie Stadium. There is value in the -1 handicap market at 1.95 and I am also on the -2 handicap at 3.75.

Sam Cosgrove is on fire in the Scottish Premiership and tipped to be the first goalscorer at 6.50 with an Aberdeen 3-0 win paying 8.50 in the correct score market.

Aberdeen FC Form & Team News

Aberdeen are currently third in the Scottish Premiership and are into the Scottish FA Cup quarter-finals. A comfortable 4-1 win against Scottish Championship club Queen of the South was secured with strikes to Niall McGinn, Andrew Considine and a Sam Cosgrove brace.

The win came after a tough 4-2 defeat against Rangers with Cosgrove again at the double. The 22-year-old striker is in great form and has scored 11 goals in his last 10 Scottish Premiership matches.

The Dons have a tremendous recent record against St Mirren and have won their last four home matches against the Buddies. Aberdeen are paying 1.33 to win again but I think this will be a convincing win with value in the -1 handicap market at 1.95.

Manager Derek McInnes has a strong squad at his disposal with Scott McKenna and Andy Considine in central defence. Gary Mackay-Steven is having a strong season alongside 19-year-old central midfielder Lewis Ferguson.

St Mirren FC Form & Team News

St Mirren are having a terrible season and looked ill equipped to survive in the Scottish Premiership. A swift return to the Scottish Championship looks certain with the Buddies bottom of the league with 19 defeats in 25 games.

The Buddies were knocked out of the Scottish FA Cup after a 2-1 home defeat against Scottish Championship club Dundee United. Despite playing against 10 men for the final 30 minutes, a goal from Duckens Nazon wasn’t enough.

Oran Kearney’s side have the worst attack and defence in the top flight and need a miracle to avoid relegation. Simeon Jackson is St Mirren’s top scorer with five goals for a club that have conceded 31 goals in 12 away matches in the Scottish Premiership.

Aberdeen vs St Mirren Head-to-Head

Aberdeen have a 22-8 advantage against St Mirren with 12 draws. The Dons have won the last six meetings against the Buddies including a 2-1 win in St Mirren in their last encounter.

Stevie May scored from the spot and Sam Cosgrove scored the winner after Cameron MacPherson’s equaliser. The last four matches played at Pittodrie Stadium have been comfortable wins for Aberdeen, winning by more than two goals on each occasion.

Aberdeen vs St Mirren Match Up

Aberdeen have a range of attacking weapons with Niall McGinn, Lewis Ferguson and Gary Mackay-Steven all contributing this season. Striker Sam Cosgrove is in sensational form and has scored 16 goals in all competitions.

St Mirren have problems at both ends of the pitch and their last four visits to Aberdeen have resulted in heavy defeats. With confidence low and distinct lack of quality in the squad, this match could be another thrashing.

Aberdeen vs St Mirren Key Statistics

  • Aberdeen have won their last 4 home matches against St Mirren by more than 2 goals (all competitions).
  • Aberdeen’s Sam Cosgrove has scored 11 goals in his last 10 Scottish Premiership matches.
  • St Mirren have lost their last 5 matches in all competitions.
  • St Mirren have conceded 2 or more goals in their last 7 matches (all competitions).

Aberdeen should be far too strong for St Mirren with another convincing home win predicted at Pittodrie. There is plenty of value in the -1 handicap at 1.95, I am also on the -2 handicap at 3.75 with a 3-0 win paying 8.50.

Aberdeen’s Sam Cosgrove is on fire and tipped to score first against St Mirren.
