Celtic vs Aberdeen Predictions

Celtic can be relied upon in Glasgow, and another high-scoring home victory seems likely.

I'm putting my faith in the Hoops to win with at least three goals scored.

Stats

  • Celtic won their last 9 home matches (Premiership)
  • Celtic have seen over 2.5 goals in 7 of their last 8 home matches
  • Celtic won 10 of their last 11 home matches against Aberdeen
  • Aberdeen have seen over 2.5 goals in 7 of their last 9 matches against Celtic
  • Aberdeen lost 5 of their last 6 away matches

Head to Head

Celtic and Aberdeen have met on 44 occasions over the past decade. Celtic won 35 of those games, while Aberdeen picked up only three victories.

The Hoops cruised to a 6-0 win in their most recent encounter in Glasgow last November.

Celtic Form

Celtic return to Glasgow after a shock 2-1 reversal at Hibernian on Saturday. Josh Campbell's first-half brace condemned the Hoops to only their second domestic defeat of the season.

Despite Saturday's setback, Celtic remain 13 points clear at the top of the division after Rangers failed to capitalise on their great rivals slip-up earlier in the day. Brendan Rodgers's men had enjoyed a seven-game unbeaten run since a 3-0 Old Firm defeat in January.

Imperious at Parkhead, the Hoops won 18 and drew one of 19 home Premiership matches played over the past year. Fifteen of those 18 victories saw at least three goals scored.

Celtic Team News

Celtic boss Rodgers has no new injury issues this week, but Paulo Bernardo and James Forrest are likely to remain unavailable on Tuesday.

Jota and Jeffrey Schlupp are likely to earn recalls to the first XI after they replaced Adam Idah and Greg Taylor at the interval last weekend.

Aberdeen Form

Aberdeen come into Tuesday's contest in high spirits after picking up a third successive victory on Saturday. Palestinian forward Oday Dabbagh's stoppage time goal - his first in Aberdeen colours - secured a massive win for Jimmy Thelin's men.

Before recent victories against Dunfermline and Dundee, the Dons had failed to win 14 of 15 previous fixtures (W1, D4, L10).

Despite their largely miserable form this year, Aberdeen sit third in the division, one point ahead of Dundee United, but 28 points behind the runaway leaders.

Aberdeen Team News

Dons boss Thelin has a lengthy list of absentees this week. Jack Milne, Jamie McGrath, Dante Polvara, Ester Sokler, Gavin Molloy, and Vicente Besuijen are all set to miss the trip to Glasgow.

Oday Dabbagh could come into the first XI after his match-winning substitute appearance against Kilmarnock.

Verdict

Celtic can see off the challenge of the Dons in a likely high-scoring encounter at Parkhead.

A home win with over 2.5 goals looks like a solid play on Tuesday.
