Celtic vs Kilmarnock Predictions

Celtic should respond positively to last weekend's surprise defeat against St Johnstone.

I'm backing the hosts to score at least three goals at Parkhead.

Stats

  • Celtic scored 3+ goals in 9 of their last 11 home matches (Premiership)
  • Celtic scored 3+ goals in 8 of their last 11 matches (Premiership)
  • Kilmarnock conceded 4+ goals in 2 of their last 4 matches against Celtic
  • Kilmarnock conceded 3+ goals in 2 of their last 5 matches

Head to Head

Celtic and Kilmarnock have met on 35 occasions over the past decade. Celtic have a commanding 25-5 H2H advantage against the Ayrshire side.

The Premiership champions won each of their last four encounters, scoring 13 goals while conceding just once.

Celtic Form

Celtic return to Glasgow on Saturday after a shock 1-0 reversal at relegation-threatened St Johnstone last weekend. The Scottish champions have now failed to win eight of their last 11 away fixtures.

The Premiership leaders have enjoyed much more consistency in home matches. Brendan Rodgers's Bhoys won 14 and lost just one of 16 Premiership games at Parkhead this season.

With just six games to play, Celtic require two more wins to secure a fourth-successive Premiership title.

Celtic Team News

Celtic boss Rodgers has no new injury issues but is likely to make changes after last week's poor display in Perth. Yang Hyun-June and James Forrest could earn recalls with Nicolas Kuhn among those expected to drop out.

Kilmarnock Form

Kilmarnock make the short trip to Glasgow after breaking a five-game winless run with a vital 2-0 victory against Motherwell last weekend. Goals either side of half-time from Fraser Murry and Joe Wright secured a priceless three points for Killie.

Despite that victory, Derek McInnes's men are still fighting for their Premiership future. Killie sit ninth in the division, just one point above the relegation playoff position.

A miserable record on the road has been a large factor in a disappointing campaign for Kilmarnock. McInnes's side lost each of their last six away fixtures, while they failed to win any of 11 games on their travels since November.

Kilmarnock Team News

Head coach McInnes has a couple of injury absentees this weekend. Kyle Magennis is set to miss out with a knee issue, while Leicester City loanee Tom Wilson-Brown faces a late fitness test.

Kyle Vassell is available again after a lengthy injury layoff.

Verdict

Celtic can take one more step towards another Premiership title on Saturday.

I'm putting my faith in the Bhoys to score three or more at Parkhead.
