Celtic vs Motherwell Predictions

Celtic should have little trouble seeing off an out-of-sorts Motherwell on Saturday. I´m confidently backing the home side to win with at least three goals scored.

As you might expect, Celtic have a dominant record in matches against Motherwell. Over the past decade, the Hoops have won 31 and lost just one of 38 games against the Steelmen.

In their most recent meeting at Parkhead, Celtic were held to a surprise 1-1 draw. The Well had lost their last 14 away matches in the east side of Glasgow.

Celtic bounced back from a 6-0 chasing against Atletico Madrid with a similarly concussive 6-0 victory against Aberdeen last time out. Brendan Rodger´s side scored three in stoppage time to add plenty of gloss to an already straightforward win.

Unbeaten in 14 league games this season, the Hoops now boast an eight-point advantage at the summit of the Premiership, albeit having played one game more than city rivals Rangers. On their own patch, Celtic are nigh-on invincible domestically, having remained unbeaten since January 2021.

Brendan Rodgers could be forced to make one or two changes to the side that demolished Aberdeen a fortnight ago. Luis Palma and Alistair Johnston could miss out after appearing for Honduras and Canada in Concacaf Nations League contests earlier this week.

Elsewhere, Daizen Maeda, Reo Hatate, Stephen Welsh and Liel Abada are all expected to be sidelined for the Scottish champions.

Motherwell Form

Motherwell make the journey to Glasgow in miserable form, having lost seven of their last nine Premiership fixtures. The Lanarkshire-based side slipped to a 2-1 home reversal against Hearts last weekend.

The Steelmen are now winless in nine matches since a 1-0 win at Hearts in September. Despite their barren run, Stuart Kettlewell´s side sit eighth in the division but just two points above bottom-side Livingston.

Motherwell Team News

Kettlewell is expected to have a fully fit squad available for Saturday´s daunting trip to Glasgow. Canadian forward Thelonius Bair could miss out after he was replaced at the interval during Motherwell´s 2-1 defeat to Hearts a fortnight ago.

With Bair likely to drop to the bench, Mika Biereth is instead expected to lead the Steelmen attack. The Danish striker has bagged four goals in seven appearances since his summer arrival from Dutch side RKC Waalwijk.
