Celtic vs St.Mirren Predictions

Celtic should bounce back to winning form in Sunday's Premiership matchup.

A home win with over 2.5 goals is the expected outcome at Parkhead.

Stats

  • Celtic won 17 of their last 19 home matches (Premiership)
  • Celtic have seen over 2.5 goals in 13 of their last 15 home matches (Premiership)
  • Celtic won 9 of their last 10 matches against St.Mirren
  • St.Mirren have seen over 2.5 goals in 9 of their last 10 matches against Celtic
  • St.Mirren lost 7 of their last 11 away matches
  • Celtic have seen over 2.5 goals in 11 of their last 13 away matches  (Premiership)

Head to Head

Celtic boast a dominant H2H record in matches against St Mirren since 2014. The Hoops won 24 and lost just two of 29 matches over the past decade.

The Scottish champions eased to a 3-0 win in their most recent encounter earlier this season.

Celtic Form

Celtic suffered a first defeat in 20 matches with a crushing 3-0 defeat at old rivals Rangers on Thursday.

Thoroughly outplayed from start to finish, Celtic conceded over 20 shots for the first time in a Premiership fixture since records began in 2013. Brendan Rodgers's side had won nine of ten previous Premiership matches before their shock defeat at Ibrox.

Despite their slip-up in Govan, the Premiership title-holders retain an 11-point advantage at the summit of the division.

Celtic Team News

After their midweek mauling at Ibrox, Brendan Rodgers could make some changes to his selection this weekend. Arne Engels, Auston Trusty and Adam Idah are likely contenders to return to the first XI.

St.Mirren Form

St.Mirren make the short trip to Glasgow after back-to-back Premiership losses suffered in the past week. Following a 2-1 home reversal against Dundee, Stephen Robinson's side slipped to a 2-0 setback at Kilmarnock on Thursday.

The Buddies had enjoyed a fine run of form before their recent blip, recording five victories from seven previous Premiership encounters (W5, L2).

St Mirren have seen an improvement in recent away performances. The Buddies picked up only one draw from their first five road games of the season before claiming nine points from their five most recent away fixtures.

St.Mirren Team News

Buddies boss Robinson has just one expected absentee this weekend. Charles Dunne remains sidelined with a hamstring injury.

Mark O'Hara could return to the first XI following a 45-minute substitute appearance at Kilmarnock.

Verdict

Celtic should get back to winning ways with a high-scoring home win on Sunday.

I'm putting a full stake on the hosts to win with at least three goals scored.
