Dundee United vs Inverness Preview, Predictions & Betting Tips

Dundee United are tipped to win when they welcome Inverness to Tannadice Park for the second leg of their Scottish Premiership playoff semi final. Dundee United FC Form & Team News

Dundee United earned a 1-0 away victory in the first leg on Tuesday. They were the better side throughout the contest and got the win thanks to Paul McMullan's rebounded effort 12 minutes from time.

The Terrors are attempting to return to the Scottish Premiership for the first time since the 2015-16 season and will be confident of completing the double on Friday given their impressive home form. Robbie Neilson's men have claimed seven wins from their last nine matches at Tannadice Park making them a valuable tip for a victory at odds of 1.80.

McMullan is expected to retain his place in the team after netting the all-important goal last time out. The winger has been in fine form lately with four goals in his last five matches and could be worth a punt in the goalscorers market.

Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC Form & Team News

Inverness were disappointing on Tuesday as they lost 1-0 at home in the first leg. They played most of the second half with 10 men after Liam Polworth was sent off and had their best chance of the match when Jordan White's header came back off the woodwork.

Caley Thistle have had a punishing schedule with Tuesday's fixture their seventh match in just under a month. John Robertson's men appeared tired during the latter stages of the first leg and that could be a factor in Friday's clash. At odds of 4.50, they are not fancied to win at Tannadice Park while a draw is also unlikely at 3.50.

Inverness will be without Polworth, who is suspended following his red card on Tuesday. Nathan Austin made a second half appearance in the first leg and is likely to replace the winger on Friday while White is set to continue as the lone man in attack.

Dundee United vs Inverness Head to Head

Dundee United have a 20-17 edge with 18 draws from 55 previous matches against Inverness. The Terrors were also unbeaten against Caley Thistle in the Championship in the regular season and have won three of the last four meetings, including the 1-0 first leg victory.

Dundee United vs Inverness Match Up

McMullan will be the one to watch on Friday having impressed in recent matches. His pace and directness on the right is often a weapon and with top scorer Pavol Safranko looking to improve his tally of 12 goals this season, the hosts should have too much for Inverness.

Inverness are likely to miss Polworth, who is an outlet with his pace in attack. With striker White scoring just twice in his last 10 matches, the visitors are not expected to get any joy at Tannadice Park.

Dundee United vs Inverness Key Statistics

Verdict

Dundee United have a good record at home having won seven of their last nine matches at Tannadice Park. The hosts are tipped to secure another victory against a tired looking Inverness team.
