Hearts vs Dundee Predictions

Hearts can maintain their excellent run of form with another win on Tuesday.

I fancy the Jambos to win and to score two goals or more at Tynecastle.

  • Hearts have won 5 of their last 6 matches (W5, D1)
  • Hearts have scored 2+ goals in 5 of their last 6 matches
  • Dundee have lost 4 of their last 7 matches (W1, D2, L4)
  • Dundee have conceded 2+ goals in 6 of their last 7 matches

Head to Head

Tuesday´s Premiership contest will be the 44th meeting between Hearts and Dundee since the turn of the century. The Jambos won 22 of those matches, with Dundee victorious on ten occasions. The Dens Park side did manage to win their last two games against Hearts, including a 2-1 win at this venue almost a year ago.

Hearts Form

Hearts maintained their excellent run of victories with a dramatic 2-1 win against Spartans in the Scottish Cup on Saturday. Frankie Kent's injury-time winner spared the Jambos blushes against their amateur opponents.

While perhaps fortunate to win on Saturday, Stevie Naismith's men are now unbeaten in six matches, with five victories, including a sensational 2-0 win at Celtic, collected during that run.

Hearts have picked up their home form as well in recent weeks with three wins and only one defeat (against Rangers) from their last five matches at Tynecastle.

Hearts Team News

Veteran goalkeeper Craig Gordon made his long-awaited return to the Hearts first team on Saturday but may have to settle for a place on the bench, with Zander Clark likely to return as no1.

Lawrence Shankland missed the weekend win at Spartans with a reported illness, and it remains doubtful the Scotland striker will return to the squad on Wednesday.

Dundee Form

Dundee make the trip to Edinburgh looking to bounce back from a disappointing 2-0 Scottish Cup defeat at Kilmarnock on Saturday. Two goals in the first three minutes of the match ended the Dark Blues hopes of Cup glory for another season.

Placed seventh in the Premiership, Tony Docherty's side have now lost four and won only one of their last seven matches over the past two months.

Dundee Team News

Head coach Docherty is expected to make changes to his selection after a lacklustre display last time out. Goalkeeper Adam Legzdiņš is likely to miss out after being forced off in the first half of Saturday's defeat at Kilmarnock.

Verdict

Despite some inconsistent home results this season, I expect Hearts to claim the points on Wednesday.

I'm taking the home win with the Jambos also expected to score two goals or more.
