Hibernian vs Celtic Predictions

Celtic can bounce back from Champions League heartbreak with a hard-fought victory on Sunday.

I'm backing the visitors to win, with both teams also tipped to get on the scoresheet.

Stats

  • Hibernian have seen BTTS in 8 of their last 10 home matches
  • Hibernian have seen BTTS in 3 of their last 5 matches against Celtic
  • Hibernian have seen over 2.5 goals in 8 of their last 10 matches against Celtic
  • Celtic won 8 of their last 10 matches against Hibernian
  • Celtic have seen BTTS in their last 5 away matches
  • Celtic won 12 of their last 15 away matches (Premiership)

Head to Head

Hibernian and Celtic have met on 32 occasions over the past decade. Celtic claimed 20 victories while Hibernian triumphed just three times.

Hibernian Form

Hibernian extended their impressive unbeaten run to 12 matches with a hard-fought goalless draw at St Mirren last weekend. Hibs have now avoided defeat in six away fixtures since the start of December (W3, D3).

David Gray's much-improved side have also been in great form at Easter Road, picking up five wins from their last six. They also earned a 3-3 draw against Rangers last month.

Typically involved in high-scoring outcomes, eight of Hibernian's last ten home fixtures saw BTTS, while five of their most recent seven also saw over 2.5 goals scored.

Hibernian Team News

Hibs boss Gray has a handful of expected absentees this weekend. Alasana Manneh, Kwon Hyeok-Kyu, Marvin Ekpiteta, Joe Newell and Élie Youan are likely to remain sidelined.

Experienced duo Martin Boyle and Dwight Gayle are tipped to lead the Hibees attack.

Celtic Form

Celtic return to domestic duty after their painful Champions League elimination at the hands of FC Bayern earlier this week. Daizen Maeda's second-half goal had the Hoops on the verge of a shock victory before Alphono Davies' stoppage-time goal leveller secured a 2-1 aggregate victory for the Bavarians.

Brendan Rodgers's in-form side have won six of their last seven Premiership matches since a surprise 3-0 defeat against Rangers in January.

The Hoops have shown some defensive vulnerability in recent weeks, though, particuarly on their travels. Rodgers's men failed to keep a clean sheet in their last six road games, leaking 14 goals in the process.

Celtic Team News

Celtic boss Rodgers has just two players set to miss out this weekend. James Forrest and Paulo Bernardo are both tipped to remain unavailable for the Scottish champions.

Adam Idah could earn a recall to the first XI, with Portuguese winger Jota potentially dropping out.
