Kilmarnock vs Celtic Predictions

While Kilmarnock are usually a dogged outfit at Rugby Park, I'm still confident of Celtic getting another away victory.

Given their high-scoring form, a Celtic win with over 2.5 goals offers the best value on Sunday.

  • Kilmarnock have lost 3 of their last 6 matches
  • Kilmarnock have lost 4 of their last 5 home matches against Celtic (Premiership)
  • Kilmarnock have conceded 13 goals in their last 3 home matches against Celtic (Premiership)
  • Celtic have seen over 2.5 goals in their last 10 victories (Premiership)
  • Celtic have seen over 2.5 goals in 9 of their last 12 away victories (Premiership)

Head to Head

Celtic have a commanding winning record against Kilmarnock in games played over the past five years. The Hoops have won 13 and lost just one of 15 encounters since December 2018.

Kilmarnock did score a shock 1-0 win when these sides last met at Rugby Park in the League Cup earlier this season.

Kilmarnock Form

Kilmarnock come into Sunday's lunch-time kick-off boosted by a hard-fought 1-0 away win at Aberdeen on Wednesday. A stoppage-time winner from 18-year-old midfielder David Watson was enough to secure Killie´s first win in four Premiership matches.

Derek McInnes´s side are now sixth in the division, just three points behind third-placed Hearts, albeit having played one game more.

At Rugby Park, Killie had enjoyed a three-game run of victories before a 1-0 defeat against Hearts last weekend.

Kilmarnock Team News

Derek McInnes is set to retain a settled selection after Kilmarnock´s midweek win in Aberdeen. Injured duo Kyle Magennis and Innes Cameron are likely to remain absent from the Killie matchday squad.

Celtic Form

Celtic arrive in Ayrshire boosted by a thumping 4-1 win against Hibernian on Wednesday. South Korean forward Oh Hyeon-Gyu bagged a brace in a rare start in the Hoops attack.

Back on the road on Sunday, Celtic can point to a superb away record, which has seen them collect 22 points from a possible 24 this season. The Scottish champions remain eight points clear of rivals Rangers in the race for the Premiership title.

Celtic Team News

Brendan Rodgers has no new injury issues after Celtic´s easy midweek win against Hibernian. Daizen Maeda and Reo Hatate remain the only absentees for the Hoops.

Oh Hyeon-Gyu will hope to keep his place in the visitor's attack after his impressive display on Wednesday.

Verdict

Celtic have a great record at Rugby Park, and while Killie should make this competitive, I'm backing the Hoops to triumph once more.

An away win with over 2.5 goals is my preferred pick for Sunday's Premiership encounter.
