Kilmarnock vs Rangers Predictions

Kilmarnock are a tough side to beat at Rugby Park, and we can expect a competitive contest on Wednesday.

I fancy both teams to score, while an on-form Gers should emerge with a vital away victory.

  • Kilmarnock have seen BTTS in 5 of their last 7 matches
  • Kilmarnock have seen BTTS in 4 of their last 6 home matches
  • Kilmarnock have seen BTTS in 4 of their last 6 home matches against Rangers
  • Rangers have won 7 of their last 8 matches against Kilmarnock
  • Rangers have won 17 of their last 18 matches (all competitions)

Head to Head

Tuesday's Premiership contest will be the 29th meeting between Rangers and Kilmarnock since 2012. The Gers lead the H2H record with 15 wins to Kilmarnock's six. The Gers have won seven and lost just one of their last eight meetings, including a 3-1 victory at Ibrox last month.

Killie claimed a famous 1-0 win when they last hosted Rangers on the opening day of the campaign.

Kilmarnock Form

Kilmarnock extended their unbeaten run to seven matches with an excellent 2-0 win against Aberdeen last weekend. On-loan Ipswich midfielder Corrie Ndaba scored his first Killie goal as the Ayrshire side added to Neil Warnock's woes at Aberdeen.

Derek McInnes's improving side sit fourth in the Premiership, after a run which has seen them lose only one of their last 12 league matches (W6, D5, L1).

At Rugby Park, Killie have been particularly strong, picking up wins in seven of their last ten league fixtures.

Kilmarnock Team News

Kilmarnock emerged unscathed from Saturday's comfortable win against Aberdeen. Head Coach McInnes could make one or two changes to freshen his selection. January signings Kevin van Veen and Greg Stewart are among those hoping for a place in the first XI.

Rangers Form

Rangers issued a statement of intent in the race for the Premiership title with a sensational 5-0 win against third-placed Hearts on Saturday. An electric first-half display had the Gers 3-0 up inside 45 minutes against an overwhelmed Jambos.

Phillipe Clement's rampant side have won their last eight league assignments with 23 goals scored in the process. Two points clear at the summit of the division, the Ibrox giants have lost just one of their last 20 league fixtures.

Rangers Team News

Rangers picked up no new injury concerns over the weekend, and it remains to be seen if Clement will continue his rotation policy on Wednesday.

Kieran Dowell, Danilo, and Abdallah Sima remain long-term absentees for the visitors. Kemar Roofe and Ben Davies have returned to the squad but neither man will feature in the Gers first XI.

Verdict

A competitive and entertaining night could be on the cards at Rugby Park.

Rangers should have too much quality in the end, but Killie usually score at home, so I'm taking a an away win as my top pick, while I also like the chances of BTTS.
