Rangers vs Aberdeen Predictions

It's tough to back a Rangers side that remain winless at Ibrox since February.

Instead, I'll put my stake on both teams scoring on Sunday.

Stats

  • Rangers have seen BTTS in 7 of their last 8 matches (Premiership)
  • Rangers have seen BTTS in 5 of their last 7 matches against Aberdeen
  • Aberdeen have seen BTTS in 6 of their last 10 matches

Head to Head

Aberdeen and Rangers have met on 37 occasions since 2016. Rangers won 20 of those games while Aberdeen picked up eight victories.

Rangers Form

Rangers return to Ibrox after an underwhelming 1-1 draw against Old Firm rivals Celtic last weekend. Cyriel Dessers' first-half goal was enough for a point only as Adam Idah's equaliser ensured a share of the spoils at Ibrox.

Barry Ferguson's under-performing side have now failed to win their last seven home matches, the longest winless run at Ibrox in the club's history.

Defensively vulnerable, the Gers failed to keep a clean sheet in all but one of their last 15 matches across all competitions.

Rangers Team News

Rangers boss Ferguson remains unable to call on several first-team players this week.

Dujon Sterling has been ruled out for up to nine months, while Ridvan Yilmaz, Findlay Curtis, Rafael Fernandes, Neraysho Kasanwirjo and Tom Lawrence are also expected to miss out.

Aberdeen Form

Aberdeen arrive in Glasgow after their eight-game run was broken by St. Mirren last weekend. Mikaël Mandron's 60th-minute strike secured the points for the Buddies.

Jimmy Thelin's men had avoided defeat in 11 of 12 previous matches before their setback in Paisley.

The Dons remain fourth in the Premiership, three points behind third-placed Hibernian in the race for European qualification places.

Aberdeen Team News

Dons' boss Thelin has a handful of expected absentees for the trip to Glasgow. Ester Sokler, Gavin Molloy, Kristers Tobers, Sivert Heltne Nilsen and Vicente Besuijen are tipped to remain absent this weekend.

Pape Habib Gueye and Oday Dabbagh are among those tipped to earn a recall after a disappointing display against St. Mirren.

Verdict

Both teams will have chances in a likely competitive Premiership contest in Glasgow.

BTTS is my best bet at Ibrox Stadium this weekend.
