St Johnstone vs Celtic Predictions

Celtic should claim another routine Premiership win on Sunday.

I expect the visitors to score at least three goals in an easy away victory.

Stats

  • St Johnstone lost 5 of their last 9 home matches
  • St Johnstone lost 13 of their last 14 matches against Celtic
  • Celtic scored 3+ goals in 6 of their last 7 wins against St Johnstone
  • Celtic won 6 of their last 8 matches (Premiership)
  • Celtic scored 3+ goals in 8 of their last 10 matches

Head to Head

St Johnstone and Celtic have met on 37 occasions over the past decade. Celtic won 31 of those games while St Johnstone picked up just two victories.

The Saints have not beaten Celtic since a 2-1 win at McDiarmid Park nine years ago.

St Johnstone Form

St Johnstone return to Perth after their four-game unbeaten run was halted against in-form Hibernian last weekend. Two goals down inside 30 minutes, the Saints offered little response as they fell to a 3-0 defeat at Easter Road.

Despite slight improvements in performance in 2025, St Johnstone have failed to win five of their last six Premiership matches. Simo Valakari's side now find themselves cut adrift at the bottom of the division, five points behind 11th-placed Dundee,

A lack of home form has undermined the Saints Premiership campaign. St Johnstone lost five and won just two of their last nine games at McDiarmid Park.

St Johnstone Team News

St Johnstone boss Valakari has three players unavailable this weekend. Bozo Mikulic will not feature again this season, while Uche Ikpeazu and Sam McClelland are also ruled out on Sunday.

Top scorer Makenzie Kirk will spearhead the Saints attack at McDiarmid Park.

Celtic Form

Celtic make the trip to Perth after a return to winning form against Hearts last weekend. First-half goals from Daizen Maeda (x2) and Jota secured an easy 3-0 victory for the Premiership leaders.

High-scoring Premiership wins have become the norm for the dominant Scottish champions. Brendan Rodgers's men scored three goals or more in 18 of 25 Premiership victories this season.

The Hoops now require just nine points to secure a fourth successive Premiership title.

Celtic Team News

Celtic boss Rodgers has a couple of absentees to deal with this weekend. Kasper Schmeichel remains sidelined with a shoulder injury picked up on international duty. Irish defender Liam Scales also misses out for the Hoops.

Top scorer Daizen Maeda will continue to lead the Celtic attack in Perth.

Verdict

Celtic should edge closer to the Premiership title with another dominant win expected in Perth.

I'm backing the visitors to win and to score three goals or more.
