St Mirren vs Celtic Predictions

Sure to be in high spirits after their big win against Rangers, I expect Celtic to maintain the winning habit on Tuesday.

A usually high-scoring contest, I'm taking the Hoops to win with over 2.5 goals scored.

  • St Mirren have lost 6 of their last 10 matches
  • St Mirren have lost 4 of their last 6 home matches against Celtic
  • St Mirren have seen over 2.5 goals in their last 4 home defeats against Celtic
  • Celtic have seen over 2.5 goals in 11 of their last 14 matches against St Mirren
  • Celtic have won 8 of their last 10 away matches (Premiership)
  • Celtic have seen over 2.5 goals in 7 of their last 8 away victories

Head to Head

Scottish champions Celtic have a dominant H2H record in matches played against St Mirren over the past decade. Since 2014, the Hoops have won 20 and lost just two of 25 games between these sides.

Usually a happy hunting ground for the Hoops, Celtic scored a comfortable 5-1 win on their last visit to Paisley earlier this year.

St Mirren Form

St.Mirren arrive in Glasgow buoyed by a fabulous 3-0 away win at Aberdeen on Saturday. Goals from Mark O´Hara, Jonah Ayunga, and Greg Kiltie sealed a massive win for Stephen Robinson's side, who had failed to score in their three previous league outings.

Usually solid on their own patch, St Mirren have won five and lost just two of their last ten matches at the SMISA Stadium. Still fifth in the Premiership, Saturday's win lifted the Saints five points clear of sixth-placed Hibernian.

St Mirren Team News

Buddies boss Robinson could name an unchanged XI after St Mirren's fine win at Aberdeen. The Northern Irish boss has a couple of injury concerns ahead of Tuesday's trip to Parkhead, with Ryan Strain and Conor McMenamin both likely to miss out.

Celtic Form

Celtic emerged with a vital three points in Saturday's Old Firm victory. A brilliant second-half strike from Kyogo Furuhashi proved the difference in a keenly contested Glasgow derby.

Despite recent struggles, the Hoops boast an eight-point lead at the summit of the Scottish Premiership, although they have played two games more than rivals Rangers.

Away from Glasgow, Celtic have won eight and lost just one of ten domestic road matches since the start of the season.

Celtic Team News

Brendan Rodgers is likely to make at least one change to his starting selection after Stephen Welsh was forced off in the derby win against Rangers. Maik Nawrocki replaced the Scot in the heart of the Celtic defence on Saturday, with Cameron Carter-Vickers also unavailable.

Liel Abada and Reo Hatate are both in contention again after recovering from long-term injury issues; however, Tomoki Iwata is expected to remain absent.

Verdict

Celtic's renewed confidence should see them over the line in a likely entertaining contest at the SMISA Stadium.

An away win with over 2.5 goals should prove the best selection for Tuesday's Premiership action.
