Rangers know only a win will do in Paisley, and I expect them to claim a vital victory at The SMISA Stadium.

Sunday's vital Premiership contest will be the 50th meeting between St Mirren and Rangers since 2000. Rangers claimed the spoils on 41 occasions, while St Mirren managed just three wins and none since 2011.

St.Mirren return to Premiership action 15 days after a 3-0 defeat at league leaders Celtic. The Saints picked up only one point from their last four league runouts since a 2-1 win against Aberdeen in March.

At The SMISA Stadium, St Mirren have been somewhat inconsistent. The Saints won four and lost four of their last eight matches in Paisley.

Despite their recent downturn in form, Stephen Robinson's side remain fifth in the division, eight points behind fourth-placed Kilmarnock.

Buddies boss Robinson has a near-fully fit squad available this weekend. Elvis Bwomono is the only player likely to miss out for the home side.

French forward Mikaël Mandron could return to the first XI, should Robinson consider changes to his attacking options.

Rangers Form

Rangers bounced back to winning form last weekend with a well-deserved 2-0 win against Hearts in the Scottish Cup semi-finals. Cyriel Dessers double-strike booked the Gers ticket to an all-Glasgow showdown with rivals Celtic in May.

Phillipe Clement's side suffered a miserable week before their cup success, with five points dropped in successive away matches against Ross County (3-2) and Dundee (0-0).

With five games still to play in the Premiership season, Rangers find themselves three points behind perennial champions Celtic.

Head coach Clement has a few injury issues to deal with ahead of Sunday's Premiership contest in Paisley. Abdallah Sima will miss out with a hamstring injury, while Rabbi Matondo and Ridvan Yilmaz are also unlikely to feature.

Ryan Jack, Danilo and Oscar Cortes also remain long-term absentees for the Gers.

Rangers have a strong record in Paisley, and I expect them to maintain that winning run again this weekend.
