Bottom of the table Alcorcon bid to avoid a 10th straight defeat in the Spanish Segunda Division when they host Lugo at Estadio Municipal de Santo Domingo on Friday. Alcorcon have scored just three goals in 11 matches this campaign and look set for a long, hard season.

Alcorcon are already seven points from safety at the bottom of Segunda Division after a sorry start to the season. They picked up four points from their opening two games, but it has been all downhill from there with nine straight defeats and only one goal scored.

Having only been appointed at the start of the season, coach Mere Hermoso was sacked earlier this month after an eighth straight defeat when Alcorcon lost 3-0 at home to Fuenlabrada.

Juan Antonio Anquela returned for a second spell in charge of the club having previously managed Alcorcon between 2008 and 2012. But he failed to halt the losing run as his first game in charge ended with a 1-0 defeat at Leganes last weekend.

Jose Carlos remains suspended for Alcorcon, and he is joined on the banned list by fellow full-back Laure, who was dismissed against Leganes.

Lugo have recovered well from a slow start to the season, moving into the play-off places on the back of a run of five wins and just one defeat in their last seven games.

Mehdi Nafti's side lost three of their opening four games, but have been impressive since. Lugo have reeled off wins over Castellon (1-0), Girona (3-0), Logrones (3-2), Rayo Vallecano (1-0) and Albacete (1-0).

The only defeat in the last month came courtesy of a 2-1 loss at Espanyol, while Lugo were also held to a 1-1 draw at Tenerife.

Full-back Edu Campabadal is suspended after being red carded in the win over Albacete. Manuel Barreiro scored the winner from the penalty spot after coming on from the bench, and will be pushing for a starting role.
