AC Milan are slightly behind on Serie A standings but have the momentum on their side with four wins in last five games. I am backing them to beat inconsistent Bologna on Friday.

AC Milan are entering this match as 9th placed team in Serie A with slim chances to qualify for the Champions League, currently being six points short of 4th Juventus with just three rounds left.

Rossoneri improved after losing to Atalanta 1-0 at San Siro in mid-April and won their next two top-flight matches on the road against Venezia 2-0 (Christian Pulisic, Santiago Gimenez on target) and Genoa 2-1 (Rafael Leao and Joao Felix were the scorers).

They also reached the Coppa Italia grand finals by beating Inter Milan 4-1 on aggregate in the semifinal, Luka Jovic scoring a brace in the deciding second tie.

Bologna Form

Bologna have won all their Serie A games in March, but their form declined recently, grabbing just six points from last five contests and dropped down to 7th place. They are just one point short from the Top 4 zone though.

Rossoblu recovered from a mid-April loss to Atalanta 2-0 and defeated at-that-time table leaders Inter Milan 1-0, Riccardo Orsolini scoring a screamer in stoppage time.

They couldn’t connect to that huge victory though, being held to a goalless draw by Udinese, while starting this month with a 1-1 home draw against Juventus where Remo Freuler scored an equalizer in the 54th minute.

Bologna are having an amazing run in the Coppa Italia, advancing over Empoli 5-1 on aggregate to the grand finals where they will battle AC Milan for the trophy.

Team News

AC Milan will be without Rafael Leao, who is suspended for this fixture. Youssouf Fofana remains a doubt with a foot issue, while Warren Bondo (ankle) and Riccardo Sottil (thigh) are both set to miss out. Emerson Royal has recently returned from a long-term injury and could make the squad.

Bologna are without Dan Ndoye and Emil Holm due to injuries.
