Atalanta vs Parma Match Preview, Predictions & Betting Tips

Atalanta welcome new boys Parma to the Stadio Atleti Azzurri D'Italia for a Serie A clash on Saturday. The visitors have impressed in their recent matches and are good enough to earn a point away from home.

Atalanta BC

The Goddess are coming off an impressive 5-1 victory away at bottom team Chievo in their last outing in the league. Josip Ilicic scored a hat-trick while Marten de Roon and Robin Gosens added further goals as the visitors earned all three points.

The victory over Chievo ended a run of nine matches in all competitions without a win for Gian Piero Gasperini's team. The result moves them up to 16th on the table with nine points, just three above the relegation places.

Atalanta will be without a number of players with Andrea Masiello, Marco Varnier and Marco Tumminello all sidelined with various injuries. However top scorers Papu Gomez and Emiliano Rigoni are both expected to start while Ilicic should retain his place in the team following his hat-trick last weekend.

Parma Calcio 1913

Roberto D'Aversa's men are coming off a disappointing 2-0 defeat at home against Lazio in their previous league fixture. It was an uncharacteristically poor performance from the hosts as they managed just a single shot on target in 90 minutes.

Prior to the defeat to the capital club, Parma had been in fine form having won three of their previous five matches. They currently sit 11th on the Serie A table, level on 13 points with Genoa, who are ninth in the standings.

Ivorian forward Gervinho has gone off the boil lately after making a blistering start to the season. The 31-year-old remains the team’s top scorer with three goals and is in line to start in attack alongside Roberto Inglese who has netted twice in seven matches.

Atalanta and Parma have faced each other 30 times in the past with the visitors emerging victorious in 12 matches while the Goddess have claimed eight wins. D'Aversa's team also have the edge in recent meetings with three wins and a draw in the last six fixtures.

The last meeting between both teams was a Serie A clash in 2015 which ended goalless.

Atalanta have struggled in attack this season with all their strikers yet to find the net so far. Most of their goals have come from midfield but the likes of Gomez, Rigoni and Ilicic may struggle against Bruno Alves and Riccardo Gagliolo.

Parma have also had their problems up front this season with Gervinho suffering a loss of form and Inglese struggling for goals. They are likely to find it hard against Rafael Toloi, Jose Luis Palomino and Gianluca Mancini in the Atalanta defence.
