Bologna vs Juventus Preview

Bologna were on an amazing run in February and March, but it feels like they ran out of steam recently. Juventus improved slightly under Igor Tudor, so I am predicting a close match to end in a draw.

Stats

  • Bologna have drawn 2 of their last 4 matches (Serie A).
  • Bologna have drawn 5 of their last 6 matches against Juventus.
  • Juventus are unbeaten in 4 of their last 5 matches.

HTH

Juventus have a 37-2 advantage against Bologna with 14 draws in 53 matches.

They last met in December in Torino, the game ending in a 2-2 draw.

Bologna Form

Bologna have won just one of their four Serie A clashes in April and dropped down to 5th place, just one point short of desired Top 4 zone.

Rossoblu held Napoli to a 1-1 draw, followed with a 2-0 loss to Atalanta and a 1-0 win against Inter Milan with Riccardo Orsolini scoring a screamer in the stoppage time.

Bologna were favorites in the previous round against Udinese, but that road clash has ended in a goalless draw.

Vincenzo Italiano’s side is doing great in the Italian Cup where they advanced to the grand finals after beating Empoli twice 3-0 and 2-1 in the semifinals.

Juventus Form

Juventus have made progress in Serie A and moved up to 4th position after collecting seven points in their four games in April.

Igor Tudor’s side started the previous month with two good results, a 1-1 draw against Roma at Olimpico and a 2-1 home win over Lecce, but then suffered a disappointing loss at Parma 1-0.

In their most recent appearance, the Old Lady defeated last-placed Monza 2-0 at home with Nico Gonzalez and Randal Kolo Muani finding the net in first half. Kenan Yildiz was sent off just before the break.

Team News

Bologna are still missing right-back Emil Holm through injury. Nicolo Casale and Dan Ndoye are expected to return to the squad, while head coach Vincenzo Italiano returns from suspension.

Juventus are without Kenan Yildiz, who begins a two-match suspension following his red card against Monza. Bremer (ACL), Federico Gatti and Lloyd Kelly are sidelined with injuries, leaving the backline depleted. Dusan Vlahovic has returned to training but is not expected to start, while Teun Koopmeiners remains doubtful with an Achilles issue.

Predicted Starting Lineups

Bologna: Skorupski, Calabria, Beukema, Lucumi, Miranda, Freuler, Aebischer, Orsolini, Odgaard, Cambiaghi, Dallinga

Juventus: Di Gregorio, Kalulu, Veiga, Cambiaso, McKennie, Locatelli, Thuram, Weah, Gonzalez, Conceicao, Kolo Muani

Verdict

Five of the last six head to head matches between Bologna and Juventus have ended without a winner. Little separates these two sides at the moment, so I am predicting a draw on Sunday.
