Como vs Juventus Preview

Como have been a tough team to beat at home, claiming ten points in their last six games. Juventus have drawn 13 of their 23 Serie A games, so I am predicting these sides to share the spoils.

Stats

  • Como are unbeaten in 4 of their last 6 home matches.
  • Juventus have drawn 7 of their last 10 away matches.

HTH

Juventus have a 2-0 advantage against Como with 1 draw in 3 matches.

They last met in August, the game being won by Juventus 3-0 in Torino.

Como Form

Como have claimed a couple of important victories in January and escaped the relegation zone, currently sitting in 15th place just two points above the red line.

One of their best performances this season was seen on 20th January at home, crushing Udinese 4-1 with Assane Diao, Gabriel Strefezza, Nicolas Paz and Jaka Bijol (own goal) appearing on the scoresheet.

Cesc Fabregas’ side underperformed in their last two Serie A contests though, suffering back to back defeats against Atalanta 2-1 and Bologna 2-0.

Juventus Form

Due to their high number of draws this season (13 in 23 rounds), Juventus are out of the title race in Serie A, currently sitting in 5th place with 40 points, 14 behind the leaders Napoli.

The Old Lady has been in poor form recently. After a goalless draw at Club Brugge in the UCL, they suffered back to back defeats against Napoli 2-1 and Benfica 2-0.

Thiago Motta’s side returned to winning ways last weekend with a 4-1 home victory against Empoli. They were behind after the first half, a recent acquisition Randal Kolo Muani scoring twice in 61st and 64th minute, while Dusan Vlahovic and Francisco Conceicao finished the job in stoppage time.

Team News

Home coach Cesc Fabregas can’t count on Alieu Fadera (suspended), Alberto Moreno, Sergi Roberto and Alessandro Gabrielloni (injuries). Andrea Belotti has been sent out to Benfica on a loan deal.

Pierre Kalulu, Bremer, Juan Cabal and Arkadiusz Milik are ruled out for Juventus due to injuries, while Andrea Cambiaso is doubtful.

Predicted Starting Lineups

Como: Butez, Engelhardt, Goldaniga, Dossena, Valle, Perrone, Caqueret, Strefezza, Diao, Paz Cutrone

Juventus: Di Gregorio, Savona, Gatti, Veiga, McKennie, Locatelli, Thuram, Gonzalez, Koopmeiners, Yildiz, Kolo Muani

Verdict

Juventus have won just one of their last nine road games, seven of those ending without a winner. Como grabbed a majority of their points at home, so I am predicting a stalemate in Italy.
