Cristiano Ronaldo is stuck in Portugal after Juventus defender Daniele Rugani tested positive for Coronavirus. Juventus players have been forced into quarantine and Ronaldo won't return to Italy with the country in lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ronaldo recently returned to Portugal to visit his mother who recently suffered a stroke. After Rugani’s illness was confirmed by Juventus he is stuck in Madeira and cannot return to Italy.

Ronaldo has quarantined himself in Madeira amid the health emergency.

Juventus players isolated

Daniele Rugani was pictured in the Juventus dressing room alongside Ronaldo after the recent Serie A victory against Internazionale. Now everyone who came in contact with the 25-year-old defender must be isolated.
Juventus announced Rugani's positive test for COVID-19 on Wednesday. “The footballer Daniele Rugani has tested positive for Coronavirus-COVID-19 and is currently asymptomatic,” read a statement.

“Juventus Football Club is currently activating all the isolation procedures required by law, including the census of those who have had contact with him.”

Daniele Rugani sends a message

Rugani took to Twitter to send a message about the virus that has thrown the world into chaos: “You will have read the news and that’s why I want to reassure all those who are worrying about me, I’m fine.

I urge everyone to respect the rules, because this virus makes no distinctions. Let’s do it for ourselves, for our loved ones and for those around us.”

Italy suspends all sport

Italian authorities have suspended all sport in the country until at least April 3 because of the coronavirus outbreak, which was declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization on Wednesday.

The decision throws the future of the Serie A, UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League seasons that could be over. The Italian football federation (FIGC) has admitted as such: “We are evaluating the idea that every league will decide autonomously what to do next,” FIGC president Francesco Ghirelli said on Tuesday.

“The idea is to finish the season by playing all the games, but we have to consider the alternative options too. Among these options are not assigning the Scudetto (league title), assigning it using the current table or organising play-offs.”

Juventus crowned Serie A champions?

If the final Serie A table will be used to decided the Scudetto, Juventus would be crowned champions as they currently sit a point above Lazio.
