The Griffins ended the previous month with a 2-0 home win against Venezia, thanks to late goals from Andrea Pinamonti and Maxwel Cornet, followed by a 1-0 loss at Inter Milan.

They narrowly salvaged a point in their first March fixture, drawing 1-1 at home against Empoli, with Johan Vasquez scoring a late equalizer. Last weekend, they played out another 1-1 draw at Cagliari, with Cornet levelling early in the second half.

Last weekend, the Salentini held a 2-0 lead against AC Milan, with Nikola Krstovic scoring a brace, but conceded three unanswered goals in the last 20 minutes to suffer a 3-2 defeat.
