Juventus vs Bologna Preview

Bologna are struggling to replicate their form from last season. If anyone knows how to beat them, it’s their former manager Thiago Motta, now in charge of Juventus. A home win is my top recommendation.

Stats

  • Juventus have won 2 of their last 3 home matches (Serie A).
  • Juventus have won 9 of their last 11 home matches against Bologna.
  • Bologna have lost 3 of their last 6 matches.

Head to Head

Juventus have a 37-2 advantage against Bologna with 13 draws in 52 matches.

They last met in May, the game ending in a 3-3 draw in Bologna.

Juventus Form

Juventus have been drawing games frequently, with four of their last five matches across all competitions ending without a winner.

After a 1-1 draw against Lille in early November, the Old Lady secured a 2-0 home victory over Torino, thanks to goals from Timothy Weah and Kenan Yildiz.

Their next two games against AC Milan and Aston Villa ended in goalless draws, while they managed just a point last weekend in a 1-1 draw with struggling Lecce. Andrea Cambiaso gave Juve the lead, but they conceded a late equalizer.

Juventus currently sit in 6th place in Serie A, with 26 points from 14 matches, six points behind league leaders Napoli.

Juventus Injuries & Team News

Breme and Juan Cabal are out with long-term injuries.

Nicolo Savona (adductor pain) and Arkadiusz Milik (knee injury) are ruled out.

Bologna Form

Bologna had a tough time in late November, suffering back-to-back defeats: 3-0 to Lazio in Serie A and 2-1 to Lille in the Champions League.

They returned to winning ways last Saturday with a commanding 3-0 home victory over Venezia. Dan Ndoye scored a brace, while Riccardo Orsolini also found the net.

Vincenzo Italiano’s side followed that up with a second consecutive win during midweek Italian Cup action, crushing Monza 4-0. Orsolini, Santiago Castro, Benjamin Dominguez, and Tommaso Pobega were all on the scoresheet.

Bologna are currently 8th on Serie A table with 21 points gathered across 13 matches.

Bologna Injuries & Team News

Nicolo Cambiaghi is out for the season (cruciate ligament injury) while Thijs Dallinga is doubtful.

Both Oussama El Azzouzi and Michel Aebischer are ruled out due to injuries, expected to be back next week.

Verdict

Bologna are struggling against upper-table teams, losing half of their last six games. I will back Juventus to return to winning ways in front of their crowd on Saturday.
