Lazio vs Inter Milan Preview & Tips
Inter travel to Stadio Olimpico to face Lazio in a Matchday 38 clash on Sunday. The home side need a point to finish in the final Champions League slot while Inter need a win to finish above Lazio.
Lazio come into this fixture on the back of a six-match unbeaten run. The Biancocelesti have recorded three wins and three draws including draws in their last two fixtures against Atalanta and Crotone.
They have proven to be a very tough side to beat at the Olimpico where they last lost in early March 1-0 to Juventus. Simone Inzaghi has got his side playing attacking football and are the league’s top scoring side with 87 goals.
Lazio’s top-scorer Ciro Immobile will reportedly be fit to face Inter this weekend after recovering from a thigh injury. The striker hasn’t played since April 29th when it was feared his season was over.
Marco Parolo is still struggling to be fit and may have to be content with a place on the bench at best, while Luis Alberto is almost certainly out.
Inter head to Stadio Olimpico needing a win to close out the three points separating the pair. Victory for the Nerazzurri would see them leapfrog Lazio due to their superiority in the head to head clashes between the sides.
Inter however come into the clash on the back of a disappointing 2-1 home loss to Sassuolo last weekend. The Nerazzurri have a pretty decent record on the road with eight victories and just three defeats.
There’s a lot of pressure on manager Luciano Spalletti and his players and to deliver a positive result. Spalletti is in real danger of losing his job if Inter fail to qualify for the Champions League next season.
Midfielder Roberto Gagliardini remains Inter’s only injury concern.
The last meeting between these two sides finished in a goalless draw with Inter fans at the time disappointed. The Nerrazurri were challenging Juventus and Napoli at the top of the league and the result was deemed as dropped points.
Inter are unbeaten on the road against the top nine sides, grinding out low scoring results at five of the six sides in European spots. They drew 0-0 at Juve, Napoli, AC Milan and Atalanta, while their trip to Fiorentina finished 1-1.
Despite Inter’s defensive strength, they will come up against the best attack in the land. Lazio have found the net in 13 of their last 14 matches and always seem to have a goal in them.
- Lazio have the best attack with 87 goals this season (Serie A).
- Lazio have found the net in 13 of their last 14 matches (All Competitions).
- Inter have avoided defeat in 17 of their last 19 away matches (Serie A).
- Inter are unbeaten in away games against the top 9 sides (Serie A).
The Stakes are high in this contest which could make it a cagey affair. Lazio always attack and seem to score goals at the Olimpico.
Spaletti knows this is a must win for Inter but I can’t separate these sides. This one has draw written all over it and I’m backing both teams to find the net.
Best Bet: Draw and both teams to score at 4.50
