Torino vs Cagliari Preview

Torino prefer to keep their Serie A home matches tight, last seven duels ending under 2.5 goals. Their last clash at home against Cagliari ended in a goalless draw, so I am expecting a low-scoring affair.

Stats

  • Torino have seen under 2.5 goals in their last 7 home matches.
  • Torino have drawn against Cagliari 0-0 in their last home match.
  • Cagliari have failed to score in 4 of their last 8 matches.

HTH

Torino have a 16-13 advantage against Cagliari with 14 draws in 43 matches.

The most recent one was in October, the game being won by Cagliari 3-2.

Form

Torino have been struggling to close their Serie A matches recently, four of the last five duels ending without a winner.

The Bulls started 2025 with a 2-2 draw at Udinese. They were down 2-0 in the second half, Che Adams and Samuele Ricci finding the net to secure a point.

The next three games have also ended in draws, 0-0 against Parma, 1-1 against Juventus and 1-1 against Fiorentina last weekend.

Paolo Vanoli’s side is currently sit in 11th place in Serie A with 23 points from 21 matches.

Cagliari have achieved great results so far in January, collecting seven points in three games and escaped the relegation zone.

After beating Monza 2-1 on 5th January, the Islanders then snatched a point at San Siro against AC Milan 1-1, Nadir Zortea finding an equalizer in the second half.

They were victorious last weekend at home against Lecce 4-1. The visitors were ahead at break, Zortea, Gianluca Gaetano, Sebastiano Luperto and Adam Obert on target.

Team News

Torino’s striker Duvan Zapata won’t be back until the next season, recovering from a cruciate ligament injury. Ivan Ilic is also injured, while Ali Dembele is suspended.

Zito Luvumbo and Giuseppe Ciocci are doubtful for Cagliari.

Predicted Starting Lineups

Torino: Milinkovic-Savic, Masina, Coco, Maripan, Sosa, Ricci, Tameze, Vlasic, Lazaro, Karamoh, Adams

Cagliari: Caprile, Zappa, Mina, Luperto, Obert, Zortea, Adopo, Felici Makoumbou, Gaetano, Piccoli

Verdict

Cagliari have failed to score in four of their last eight games. Torino prefer to keep their home games tight, so I am backing under 2.5 goals in Italy.
