Polokwane had a difficult period last season with one win in nine matches, ending with a 5-0 loss at Stellenbosch. They rallied to finish in the top eight thanks to a five-match unbeaten run (WDDDW).

A 1-0 success at Cape Town Spurs preceded a 0-0 home draw vs Richards Bay. Two more goalless stalemates followed, at home to Sekhukhune United and away at Kaizer Chiefs.

Rise and Shine beat TS Galaxy 1-0 at home on the final day. This term began with a 1-0 loss in extra time at ten-man Mamelodi Sundowns.

It’s been a quiet transfer window for Polokwane. They have so far held onto key right back Tholo Matuludi and winger Oswin Appollis.

The latter scored twice for Bafana Bafana on Tuesday and may be fatigued. Given Mashikinya was released in midfield.

AmaZulu Form & Team News

Usuthu had a poor 2023-24 season and finished 11th in the PSL table. They won just three of their final 14 league matches although those victories all came in the final eight rounds.

After two wins in three matches, they lost 2-1 at Richards Bay. Successive draws followed in rounds 27 and 28, 0-0 at Stellenbosch and 1-1 at home to Kaizer Chiefs.

A surprise 1-0 win at Sekhukhune United followed. On the final day, they lost 3-1 at home to Golden Arrows.

Usuthu offloaded some big names in midfielder George Maluleka and defender striker Victor Letsoalo. Defenders Veluyeke Zulu and Abbubaker Mobara have also left.

Etiosa Ighodaro has arrived on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns. Kwanda Mngonyama is another new addition from Moroka Swallows.
