Sekhukhune United vs Magesi Preview

Both teams have struggled in the early part of the season, but the hosts seldom suffer defeat at home. A draw is my best bet.

Head to Head

This is the first time that these clubs are meeting in an official fixture.

Sekhukhune United Form & News

Sekhukhune finished fourth in the PSL last season to qualify for the CAF Confederations Cup. Their last seven matches have seen just one victory though.

After three successive league draws, they lost 1-0 at home to AmaZulu. Their season finished with a much-needed 1-0 victory away at Chippa United.

This season has seen two losses so far. They were beaten 1-0 at home by Cape Town City in the MTN8 and 1-0 at Desportivo Luanda-Sul in their CAF first leg on Saturday.

Sekhukhune have lost four of their starting XI in the transfer window. Key winger Elias Mokwana has been sold to Esperance and midfielder Kamohelo Mokotjo left for Cape Town City.

Fullbacks Nyiko Mobbie and Asekho Tiwani have departed the club. They rested some players on Saturday with an eye on this clash.

Magesi Form & News

Magesi won the National First Division last season to earn promotion to the PSL. They finished eight points ahead of second spot and won 16 of their 30 matches.

An 11-match unbeaten run (eight wins, three draws) was followed by a 2-0 home loss to Maritzburg United. They bounced back to beat Platinum City Rovers 2-0 and Milford 3-1 at home.

With promotion secured, they drew their final two fixtures. A 2-2 draw at Casric Stars was followed by a 2-2 home draw vs Venda FC.

Magesi FC have signed 13 new players to boost their quality for the top flight. Former Chiefs winger Kgaogelo Sekgota is one of the key additions.

Newly signed fullbacks Delano Abrahams ad Lebogang Mabotja will be crucial to coach Clinton Larsen.

Verdict

I'm tipping a draw in this match. I can see the match having very few goals and potentially ending in a 0-0 draw.
