Real Sociedad have struggled in La Liga recently, losing four of their last six matches and dropping to 9th place, though they remain close to the European spots.

After back-to-back defeats to Getafe (3-0) and Osasuna (2-1), the San Sebastian side bounced back with a 2-1 win over Espanyol in mid-February.

They returned to losing ways in the following round with a 3-0 defeat at Real Betis but responded with a 3-0 victory over relegation-threatened Leganes last weekend, with Arsen Zakharyan, Takefusa Kubo, and Jon Olasagasti finding the net.
