Celta Vigo v Levante Preview & Tips
Celta Vigo welcome Levante to the Estadio de Balaidos in their final match of the La Liga season. The hosts are looking to end their recent poor run and close out the campaign with a home win.
Celta were hammered 6-0 away at Real Madrid in their penultimate match of the season. Celticos, who are usually one of the hardest teams to face in Spain, were uncharacteristically poor at the Santiago Bernabeu and were overrun by a rampant Madrid side.
The result left them 14th on the table level on 46 points with Levante. Top scorer Iago Aspas started on the bench during the trip to the capital with manager Juan Carlos Unzue opting for Maximilliano Gomez in attack. Gomez struggled to get into the match and was a peripheral figure throughout.
Aspas should be restored to the starting line-up following his 10-minute cameo at Madrid. Nemanja Radoja could also come in for Jozabed, while Lucas Boye, Stanislav Lobotka and Pione Sisto are all in line to feature.
The Valencia based club head to Vigo on the back of a shock victory over champions Barcelona last weekend. They put up a superb attacking display to stun the Catalans 5-4 thanks to a hat-trick from Emmanuel Boateng and two goals from Enis Bardhi.
Granotas have won their last five La Liga matches and have only lost once in nine. They could overtake the hosts on the table with victory on Saturday.
Manager Fransisco Fernandez has no major injury worries and could retain the same starting 11 from the victory against Barca. Boateng is expected to continue his partnership with Rorger Marti up front, while Bardhi and Jose Luis Morales will operate from the wide areas.
Celta Vigo won the reverse fixture 1-0 at the Estadio Ciudad de Valencia thanks to a first half strike from Pione Sisto. They have won six of the last seven against the visitors, keeping four clean sheets in the process.
Levante’s open attacking play has won them many admirers this season, but they are usually left exposed at the back. While they have the quality up front to trouble Celta, they could be opened up by the likes of Aspas at the other end.
- Celta Vigo are unbeaten in 16 of their last 19 home matches (La Liga).
- Celta Vigo are unbeaten in 12 of their last 15 meetings against Levante (All Competitions).
- Levante have won 8 of their last 10 matches (La Liga).
- Levante have won 3 of their last 5 away matches (LaLiga).
Celta are usually solid at home and tend not to lose when playing in front of their fans. However Levante have the momentum coming into the clash and look good to claim a point in Galicia.
