Celta Vigo vs Barcelona Preview

Barcelona are expected to recover after their recent loss in San Sebastian. They won four of their last five h2h matches against Celta Vigo but with just one clean sheet. An away win & BTTS is the best bet in my opinion.

  • Celta Vigo have lost 2 of their last 4 home matches.
  • Celta Vigo have scored in 10 of their last 11 home matches.
  • Celta Vigo have scored in 6 of their last 7 matches against Barcelona.
  • Barcelona have won 7 of their last 8 matches.

Head to Head

Barcelona have a 28-12 advantage against Celta Vigo with 14 draws in 54 matches.

They last met in February, the game being won by Barcelona 2-1.

Celta Vigo Form

Celta Vigo are sitting in the middle of La Liga standings after 13 rounds, having accumulated 17 points so far.

Their recent form has been good. After demolishing a lower-division side UD San Pedro 5-1 in the Spanish Cup, they defeated Getafe 1-0 at home earlier this month, Anastasios Douvikas finding the net in 7th minute.

Celta Vigo were close to beating Real Betis in Sevila just before the international break, having a 2-1 lead for 90 minutes but then conceded for the second time. Douvikas appeared on the scoresheet in this clash as well, Javi Rodriguez also on target.

Celta Vigo Injuries & Team News

Jailson is the only name on Celta Vigo’s injury list.

Luca de la Torre and Carreira have recovered from injuries during the international break.

Barcelona Form

After beating Alaves 3-0, Sevilla 5-1, Real Madrid 4-0 and Espanyol 3-1, Barcelona’s La Liga winning run was interrupted in San Sebastian against Real Sociedad where they lost 1-0.

It was a match full of questionable referee decisions, with VAR disallowing Robert Lewandowski’s goal in the first half. Barca had 0.64-1.85 expected goals, 70% possession and 11-14 shots.

Despite the loss, Blaugrana are still the table leaders with 33 points from 13 matches, six points above 2nd placed Real Madrid.

Hansi Flick’s side faced Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League earlier this month and claimed a convincing 5-2 win in Serbia, Robert Lewandowski scoring a brace, Raphinha, Inigo Martinez and Fermin Lopez also on target.

Barcelona Injuries & Team News

Ter Stegen, Araujo, Ansu Fati, Christensen, Eric Garcia, Bernal and Ferran Torres remain on the injury list.

Lamine Yamal and Robert Lewandowski are both tagged as doubtful.

Verdict

Celta Vigo rarely miss to score at home and they found the net in six of their last seven matches against Barcelona. I will back the Catalan giants to return to winning ways on Saturday but also to concede at least one goal.
