A resurgent Celta Vigo host Cadiz at at Abanca-Balaídos on Monday. The visitors are one of the big surprises in La Liga this season, can they continue to defy the odds?

Celta Vigo have won their last two matches to move away from the relegation zone. The Galician club have been creating plenty of chances in recent weeks after Eduardo Coudet replaced Óscar García as manager.

Celta lost 4-2 at Sevilla in his first match in charge after goals to Iago Aspas and Nolito established a 2-1 lead. Coudet’s side bounced back with a 3-1 home win against Granada.

It was their first victory in nine matches. Nolito, Miguel Baeza and Fran Beltrán were on target in a deserved win after having 68% possession and 17-9 shots including 4.64-1.49 expected goals.

Granada backed it up with a 2-0 win at Athletic Bilbao. Hugo Mallo and Iago Aspas scored second half goals as they held the hosts to 0.45 expected goals.

Cadiz responded with a 1-1 draw at Elche. They were 1-0 down when the hosts were reduced to 10 men on the stroke of half time. Álvaro Giménez equalised but they couldn’t find a winner in a match with few chances.

Cadiz produced a giant killing 2-1 home win against Barcelona in their last match. Despite having 18% possession, they capitalised on Barca’s defensive mistakes for a famous victory with Giménez and Álvaro Negredo on target.
