Real Betis are up to fifth place in La Liga after reeling off three straight wins.

A 3-2 win over Almeria, in which Betis led three times, was followed by a 2-1 victory over Valladolid.

Last weekend, Betis trailed Elche 2-0 after just nine minutes but took advantage of their hosts being reduced to nine men to come from behind and win 3-2.

Real Madrid have had a tough week, starting with a failure to gain significant ground on leaders Barcelona when held to a 1-1 draw by Atletico Madrid.

Los Blancos were then beaten 1-0 by Barcelona in the first leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final on Thursday night with Eder Militao's own goal proving decisive.

Prior to that, Real had been in flying form with five wins in a row including Club World Cup glory and a 5-2 Champions League success at Liverpool.
