Valencia vs Sevilla Preview

Valencia have been strong at home under Carlos Corberán and Sevilla have lost three games in a row. I am backing a home win in La Liga with both teams to score.

Valencia Form

Valencia have shown significant improvement under manager Carlos Corberán. Since his appointment in December, they have climbed to 14th place in La Liga and currently sit six points above the relegation zone.

The Bats are on a two-match winning streak at Mestalla where they have won five of their last six games. Their previous home match resulted in a 1-0 win against Mallorca, Diego López scoring in his fourth straight appearance.

Los Che are coming off a historic 2-1 away victory against Real Madrid. It was their first win at Santiago Bernabéu in 17 years, Giorgi Mamardashvili instrumental in saving a penalty from Vinícius Júnior with Hugo Duro's late header securing the victory.

Sevilla Form

Sevilla have been inconsistent under Xavi García Pimienta and are currently on a three-match losing streak. Pimienta holds the lowest win percentage among Sevilla managers with over 30 matches and his future with the club is in question.

The Andalusians conceded in the 84th minute in a 1-0 loss against Athletic Bilbao, a deserved defeat after ending with 0.46-1.64 expected goals. Rubén Vargas then scored first in a 2-1 defeat at Real Betis.

Sevilla are coming off a 2-1 defeat against Atlético Madrid at Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán. The match began promisingly with Lucien Agoumé scoring in the 7th minute, Atlético securing victory in the 93rd minute.

Injuries & Team News

Valencia right-back Thierry Correia is out for the season after suffering a cruciate ligament injury in October.

Striker Rafa Mir is on loan from Sevilla but is eligible to play against his parent club.

Sevilla’s Rubén Vargas and Adrià Pedrosa sustained injuries against Atlético Madrid and both are being evaluated.

Akor Adams is sidelined for the season due to a myotendinous injury and Tanguy Nianzou remains unavailable following surgery for a tendon problem.

Predicted Starting Lineups

Carlos Corberán is expected to revert to a back four here.

Valencia: Giorgi Mamardashvili; Dimitri Foulquier, Cristhian Mosquera, César Tárrega, José Gayà; Enzo Barrenechea, Javi Guerra; Luis Rioja, André Almeida, Diego López; Umar Sadiq.

Sevilla: Ørjan Nyland; Carmona, Loïc Badé, Kike Salas, Adrià Pedrosa; Saúl Ñíguez, Lucien Agoumé, Albert Sambi Lokonga; Dodi Lukebakio, Isaac Romero, Chidera Ejuke.

Verdict

Valencia have seen a resurgence under Carlos Corberán and sit two points behind Sevilla. The visitors come into this clash after three straight defeats, the value on a home win in La Liga.
