After returning to Spain, Carlo Ancelotti’s side claimed back to back victories against Sevilla 4-2, Valencia 2-1 and Deportiva Minera 5-0 (Spanish Cup).

Los Blancos outplayed Mallorca 3-0 in the Spanish Super Cup semifinal, Jude Bellingham, Rodrygo and Martin Valjent (own goal) appearing on the scoresheet.

Eder Militao and Dani Carvajal are out with long-term injuries.

Luka Modric is recovering from a virus infection and most likely will miss this match.

Aurelien Tchouameni is also sidelined with head injury.

Barcelona have hit a rough patch in December in La Liga, claiming just four points from their last five appearances and dropped down to 3rd place behind Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid.

After starting the last month with a convincing 5-1 win at Mallorca, Blaugrana won a point in Sevilla against Real Betis 2-2.

They were defeated in next two games at home by Leganes 1-0 and Atletico Madrid 2-1, but started 2025 with a convincing 4-0 win against Barbastro in the Spanish Cup. Robert Lewandowski scored a brace, Eric Garcia and Pablo Torre also on target.

Hansi Flick’s side was victorious in the Spanish Super Cup semifinal, beating Athletic Bilbao 2-0 with Gavi and Lamine Yamal finding the net.

Robert Lewandowski has picked up a knock against Athletic Bilbao and might miss this clash. He scored 25 goals across competitions this season.

Gavi, Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Marc Bernal are also sidelined.
