Barnsley host Bournemouth in the Championship on Friday with the promotion-chasing Cherries out to rediscover their best form.

Bournemouth suffered a second defeat of the season on Tuesday, and now face a Barnsley which has proven to be a tough nut to crack at home.

Barnsley ended a two-game losing run when they returned to winning ways against Birmingham on Tuesday. Valerien Ismael's side came a goal down to win 2-1 at St Andrew's thanks to a Cauley Woodrow penalty and an 84th minute winner from Callum Styles.

The Tykes had lost their previous two games when going down 1-0 at home to Brentford and 2-1 away at Blackburn.

Prior to those losses, Barnsley had been in good form, winning four of their previous five matches in the Championship.

Right-back Jordan Williams is still on the injury list for Barnsley. Winger Elliot Simoes also looks set to remain on the sidelines.

Bournemouth Form

Second-placed Bournemouth have hit the first bump in the road this season, failing to win either of their last two matches to slip into the clutches of the chasing pack.

Jason Tindall's side remain one point behind leaders Norwich, but it has been a bit of struggle for the Cherries over the last week.

Bournemouth could only collect a point from a 2-2 draw at strugglers Rotherham. They then found themselves 3-0 down at home to Preston before losing 3-2 on Tuesday.

Defenders Cameron Carter-Vickers and Jack Stacey remain out. Forwards Josh King and Arnaut Danjuma are rated doubtful and unlikely to make the trip to Oakwell.

Dan Gosling, Lloyd Kelly and Philip Billing were among those dropped to the bench in the defeat to Preston. Sam Surridge will likely be recalled to the starting line-up after scoring in that loss.
