Blackburn Rovers vs Leeds United Match Preview, Predictions & Betting Tips

Leeds United will continue their push for automatic promotion when they travel to Ewood Park to face Blackburn Rovers. Both teams look evenly matched and should serve up a low scoring draw on Saturday.

Blackburn Rovers

Rovers are coming off a hard fought 1-0 victory away at Bolton Wanderers in their last Championship fixture. Bradley Dack's strike on 22 minutes was the difference as the Lancashire club held on to secure all three points.

Tony Mowbray's team have been inconsistent this season having claimed just four wins in 12 matches so far. They have drawn six times in that run and are currently 10th on the table with 18 points.

Dack is Blackburn's top scorer with six goals from nine matches and the midfielder is expected to start on Saturday. The 24-year-old should play in the hole behind Danny Graham who has also netted twice this season.

Leeds United

The Whites were held to a disappointing 1-1 draw at home against Brentford last time out. They were made to come from behind as Pontus Jansson's strike two minutes from time salvaged a point for Marcelo Bielsa's team.

Leeds had made a brilliant start to the campaign and were top of the standings during the early stages of the season. However, they seem to be going through a rough patch having dropped to third following a run of just two wins in their last eight matches.

Defender luke Ayling is suspended for this weekend's clash after picking up a red card late in the match against Brentford. Tyler Roberts and Ezgjan Alioski should retain their place in the team with both men netting three goals each this season.

Blackburn and Leeds have faced each other 63 times in the past with the visitors just slightly edging the head-to-head by 28 wins to 22. Leeds have also come out on top in recent meetings having claimed four wins in the last six fixtures.

Leeds were victorious on their last visit to Ewood Park as they claimed a 2-1 win in a Championship clash back in 2017.

Dack and Graham have been impressive for Blackburn this season having combined for eight goals already. Both men should link up well but could find Jansson and Liam Cooper in the Leeds United defence hard to beat.

Tyler Roberts has been solid for Leeds this season and the Welsh striker will give Charlie Mulgrew and Darragh Lenihan plenty of problems with his graft and hard work. However, the major threat could come from Aloski, whose pace on the left might be a big factor for Elliot Bennett.

Key Statistics

  • Blackburn Rovers have seen Under 2.5 goals in 7 of their last 11 matches (Championship).
  • Blackburn Rovers are unbeaten in 8 of their last 10 home matches (Championship).
  • Leeds United have seen Under 2.5 goals in 5 of their last 7 matches (Championship).
  • Leeds United are unbeaten in their last 6 away matches (Championship).

This fixture looks set to be a low-scoring affair as Leeds and Blackburn have strikers who work hard but score very few goals. Both teams have shown similar form in recent weeks and should settle for a draw on Saturday.
