Blackburn vs Watford Predictions
These two sides are in completely contrasting levels of form. Watford have won their last three games in the Championship, whilst Blackburn have lost their last four in a row.
Watford are looking to keep the heat on the top two. They can come out on top in low-scoring affair with under 2.5 goals predicted.
- Blackburn have lost their last 4 matches (Championship).
- Watford have won their last 3 matches (Championship).
- Watford have kept clean sheets in their last 3 away matches (Championship).
- Watford have seen under 2.5 goals in 4 of their last 5 away matches (all competitions).
Head-to-Head
These two sides have met 37 times in history with Blackburn holding a narrow 13-12 head-to-head record. There have also been 12 draws.
Watford won their last meeting in the Championship in October as they ran out 3-1 winners thanks to goals from Joao Pedro, Tom Cleverley and an own goal from Darragh Lenihan.
Blackburn Form
Losing four in a row, Rovers will feel frustrated having lost each of them by a one goal margin. However, three out of the four were to teams below them in the league.
Tony Mowbray’s men have been involved in low scoring games despite the efforts of rising young star Harvey Elliot and Adam Armstrong’s 19 goals, which is only bettered by Brentford’s Ivan Toney with 24.
In their last 10 games in the Championship, Blackburn have seen under 2.5 goals.
That includes Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest, in which Armstrong missed a penalty. Rovers have also lost to QPR, Preston and Barnsley.
They have not lost five in a row in the league since April 2012. But given the form of Watford, there is a real possibility their torrid form could continue.
Blackburn Injuries & Team News
The injury list is extensive for Blackburn with defenders Daniel Ayala, Scott Wharton and Derrick Williams all out injured.
Midfielders Lewis Holtby, Bradley Johnson and Tom Trybull are also missing.
Long term absentee Bradley Dack is in contention for a recall to the starting line-up, having been on the bench in the defeat to Forrest.
It wouldn’t be surprising to see some changes in the line-up, given the poor run of form, with Barry Douglas a potential player to come in.
Watford Form
Despite inconsistent away from home, winning their last three matches has seen Watford go level on points with Brentford in second as they push for promotion.
Watford boss Xisco will be pleased with his side’s form having lost two games in their last 10 in the league to QPR at home and high-flying Swansea away.
Travelling to a midtable side in poor form should give them the incentive and opportunity to start improving their away form which has seen them only win twice in 10 away games.
Watford beat Preston 1-0 last time out on their travels and are seeking consecutive away league wins for the first time since September 2017.
The win over Preston is sandwiched by home victories over Bristol City 6-0 and Derby 2-1 on Friday night.
Watford Injuries & Team News
Watford’s squad will once again be missing goalkeeper Ben Foster and defenders Christian Kabasele and Marc Navarro.
Midfielder Tom Dele-Bashiru and forwards Isaac Success and Troy Deeney also are ruled out.
