  • Burnley have won their last 2 against Middlesbrough.

Head to Head

Burnley have a 27-23 advantage against Middlesbrough in 69 meetings with 19 draws. The Clarets were 2-1 winners when these sides last met.

Burnley Form

Scott Parker’s Burnley have kept chase at the top of the Championship with 10 wins in 18 games. The Clarets have won their last four and will overtake league leaders Sheffield United with a win on Friday.

The Lancashire club started their recent run of victories with a 1-0 win over Swansea. Another 1-0 triumph came at Bristol City before a 2-0 home victory against Coventry.

Parker’s team put in another solid display on Saturday and beat Stoke 2-0 away. Burnley had 16 shots and Jay Rodriguez and Josh Brownhill struck the winning goals.

Burnley Injuries

Defenders Joe Worrall, Hannes Delcroix, Hjalmar Ekdal and Jordan Beyer won’t feature due to injury.

Midfielder Aaron Ramsey and forward trio Lyle Foster, Benson Manuel and Mike Trésor are also injured and unavailable.

Middlesbrough Form

Middlesbrough have clawed back into the Championship play-offs. They are fifth in the standings with a two-point cushion over West Brom in seventh.

Boro notched three wins on the spin against lower-table opponents either side of the November internationals. The Teesside club beat QPR 4-1, Luton 5-1 and Oxford 6-2 before losing 1-0 at Blackburn.

Michael Carrick’s side hit back with a 3-0 home win against third from bottom Hull City. Finn Azaz scored on 24 minutes and Tommy Conway’s brace sealed all three points.

Middlesbrough Injuries

Goalkeeper Seny Dieng may be in the squad as he targets a return from a recent illness.

Midfield pair Aidan Morris and Riley McGree are sidelined with injuries.

Defenders Rav van den Berg, Darragh Lenihan, Tom Smith and Alex Bangura are also ruled out.

Verdict

Burnley have confidently grown into their Championship campaign under Parker and look hard to beat. The Clarets keep things tight at home and can edge a Middlesbrough side lacking consistency on the road.
